Re: running hot
200-210 is OPTIMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE.
You don't want it running cooler - this reduces your economy and messes with the operation of the computer. It also increases emissions - if you're running 200-210 you're running in the sweet spot.

Re: running hot
The fan shroud would make all the difference in the world when driving around town. Go to a salvage yard and get one for your '89.

Re: running hot
on my 1989 chevy full size blazer it has a 350 tbi last sommer it sprung a head leak i replaced the top end gaskets and had the heads done but now it will not idle i have put a new throttle body on it and the compresion is at 125 per cilender give or take one or two pounds. i have checked the timing changed plugs wires rottor cap. and still nothing it also seems to have lost power alittle but i could be mistaken. i pull a sixteen foot enclosed trailer everyday with it and it seems to run ok but just will not idle Help
