If the rods are to long you will have to buy new ones. Do you have a stock rod you can compare the length to? Messure how long the rod is total with a ruler. I have a set for the 420a so we can see how much longer yours are. You need to find out what they fit.

Re: longer rods for eclipse

You just bought the wrong rods, the ones you need are CRS5472N3D. Next time you might want to read the auction before you jump into something like that, that was a pretty costly mistake due to haste. It will work if you get a crank with a shorter stroke, but I think cranks like that are generally a good $750-$1500 depending on brand and availability and such.

A "long rod" setup is used in destroking motors so that the piston will still come up to the right height. This is used to get a better rod ratio (length of the rod over the stroke) which helps in rev happiness of the motor. Ever wonder why its generally said you cant rev out a stroker? This is why.

Re: longer rods for eclipse

Thanks guys. looks like im buying different rods. its way to hard to find a crank with a shorter stoke, and who knows how much it would cost. although higer rpms do sound appealing. since the auction on ebay said they were for a 420a eclipse, im getting my money back. mabye next time he'll do a better job in describing them!

Re: longer rods for eclipse

On a 420a, I doubt you'll be able to find one... and if you do its going to be probably around a grand minimum. Its definately going to be cheaper to just buy new rods and relist those bad boys on ebay.

Re: longer rods for eclipse

I've never seen nor heard of a destroked 420a. Chances are, you'd have to get a custom crank cut, which could cost a couple grand at minimum. Turn around and sell the rods, and then buy the right ones.

Re: longer rods for eclipse

well what i was hoping for was a stock crank and maybe the neons came with two different cranks. that way i could just buy a stock one thats shorter. but i guess these shorter stroke cranks are one of a kind.
