Won't start - Clicking under dash from

Intermittently, when trying to start the car, I get a clicking noise from behind the glovebox area. After multiple tries, it eventually starts, but it is taking more tries.

I tried taking the car out of park and putting it back in firmly, and occasionally this works, but more often not. Sprayed some WD 40 into the ignition and it helped for a few days, but may be coincidence also.

The battery is new and strong. I checked for corrosion and terminals are clean.

This is like the toothache that goes away at the dentist - I can't get someone to fix it when it won't repeat the symptoms.

I probably can do the repair if I knew what to R & R.

Apparently these cars will only start in Park. At least there is no response to trying to start in neutral while there is a clicking or a start in Park.

try starting it with your foot on the brake = brake needs to be depressed for the car to start. Sometimes the neutral safety switch gets bad = car will start better in either neutral or park.

Are you getting one click or many. toggle the key on and off multiple times and see if that helps.
