RX7 could run 11.7 on 14psi with street tires?

A buddy of mine says he had an RX7 on 14 psi (i believe he had the 1.3 [i'm not too savvy on mazdas])
Anyways, he said he had some special EMS instead of an ecu and he had it tuned really good.
Is it possible that he could have had 350whp and run an 11.7 on street tires?

Of course he doesn't have his time slip or dyno sheet...

Is it possible? yes. Rotary's can make some serious power... but as in most people, hold up the BS flag until he proves it. Then, if he does, take it like a man and say good job on a fast car

Agreed. It's very possible but isn't cheap to get that kind of power from a rotary. If he's only bragging about one upgrade, then he is full o crap. If there has been a number of upgrades, then maybe there is something to his claim. No electric gizmo on its own will get that kind of gain.

Well I don't know how much boost they came with stock. But I think he said he used the original turbo boosting 14 psi. Also, he claimed he drove it daily at that same level of boost. Does that sound feasible?

Re: RX7 could run 11.7 on 14psi with street tires?

It is possible at 14psi depending on the mods. I'm at the same level and expecting to break mid to low 12's at 13 psi. Esp with stock rims 16x8's with some good 245's you'll hook nice. I've seen 13.2 stock with awesome driving.

My mods ~

Street ported 2mm Rebuild

Full resonated 3 inch turbo back
HKS Intakes
Apexi pfc tuned rich
koyo rad
8.5lb all race flywheel
850cc primary injectors
1300cc secondary injectors
walboro 255lph pump
- 100lbs in weight kill
oddessy lw battery
XS Custom V-mount Intercooler
Sequential simplified
Emissions eliminated
Greddy pulleys
Silicon hose techs
Ic hoses

Btw ~ They are all 1.3

Yeah, he said he had bigger injectors (like 1000cc) and an exhaust. There may of been other things but it was still with that little t25 turbo. It just seems nuts that he got 11.7 seconds out of it. And he didn't have any weight reduction and he weighs 300+ lbs.

Depends, hp level goes way up with injectors and an a stand alone. Also depends on what model? R1 - R2 or touring, year etc.
