'03 jetta 1.8t rough running first started

Hey i couldnt find any other posts on this problem so i posted a new , when i first stat the jetta weather it 30 degrees out or 90 it will not run properly untill it warms up (hold the gas down a little for about 20 sec's ) or like my wife lets it run about 10 min its good to go but god forbid your in a hurry it will spit and sputter till it warms up, i did retrieve a p2181 code which has somthing to do with a cooling sensor does this affect the spit and sputtering any help would be great
