Exclamation Need A Bracket Urgent

I had a mechanic that took complete advantage charging me for parts I did not need and so forth. Anyway when I went and had my car moved he decided to keep my brackets. I have been able to find 2 across the US but can not find anyone that will sell me a bracket for my alternator. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I suggest you go to the mechanic and ask for the parts back since they belong to you. If he refuses, then file in small claims court for the maximum amount and let a judge sort it out.

Re: Need A Bracket Urgent

Odd parts like this can be a HUGE PITA!! I HEAR YA. Nice mechanic.

I can't imagine you not being able to find the bracket really easily. This is a Ford Escort. ANY bone near you should/will have one. Rinky dink parts like this are almost never listed or inventoried. And seeing as how almost no one ever, ever needs one there is thus no demand. No need for them to take the time pulling and stocking them. Usually people looking for these kind of things for popular cars don't need them and are a pita on the phone and in the yard to deal with. That is why they give you the quick no on the phone.
HERE is how to get one:

Go to a bone with some cash and ask for one or ask if you can take one off. Remarks like.."This thing'd save me a LOT! of grief..it has gotta be worth..(whatever cash)" can quickly wake them up and grab a forklift if neccessary,a gun and a torch to get it for you in 2 seconds with enough cash. NEVER ask to borrow/use THEIR tools.

Failing that..go to a bone and and be prepared to buy an alternator..tell them you need the bracket too.

Failing that. Find a bone that allows diy to take off parts. Tell them you are "oh looking for some odd little parts". Take your tools and just go ahead and take off the bracket. Take the bracket in and say.."oh how much for this little thing". They will say a few bucks..tell them you don't need a receipt. Give them a few bucks extra for coffee for the next time you need some stuff. They almost never say they don't sell that or give you some ridiculous price. LOL..what..now that you have it off they are gonna make you/or put it back on haha. Or not sell it.

Good luck.

Ditto on previous post. Mechanic won't talk to you to get parts back? What's he going to do with it? If you payed him for everything and he won't give it back, then tell him you will take legal action starting with the cops for theft. I'd threaten and call the cops even if things didn't work out as that is your property. That should get him moving. Court should too, but that isn't very timely or convenient. Good luck

Re: Need A Bracket Urgent

Try a U-pull-it JY or the for sale section at http://www.feoa.net There should be tons of parts like this available espically during a part out. Not sure exactly what you are referring to is it the plate on the top where the A/C hoses go or the actual bracket that holds the alternator in place (and if so how are you driving the car?).
