97 PA starting Issues

Just replaced my motor and everything is hooked up and try to start it and nothing Help !!!!! Turn the key everything kills but starter does not engage there is no power to the purple wire on the starter lead

Welcome to AF. Hook up the neutral switch on the trans? make sure all the ground cables are tight and connected, recheck your work, no quick answer here.

Does anyone know where the ground lead from the battery goes ????
I hooked it up to the trans mount but i am not sure that is right

Most of the 3.8's (Bonneville & Lesabre anyway) mount underneath the ICM mounting bracket along with the ICM wiring harness ground.

Most likely correct. It is quite obvious if you look at the length of the battery negative cable and the connector. It is a couple of feet long. It should go to the engine/tranny grounding stud which is technically the ground termination point. Also, the battery negative cable may have a second cable and that typically goes to frame/chassis ground somewheres on the inner fender/apron.
