Speaker wire color codes
I am installing an after marker radio / cd player. The radio has 8 wires for speakers, 1 pair for each. The car has 5 wires for the speakers. Does anyone know what wires are for what speaker on the car side?

Re: Speaker wire color codes
You'll need to understand which grade of factory system you have too, basic, premium, JBL (depends on year) or Mach (also depends on year). Some have separate amplifiers that would need to by bypassed and may explain why you only find 5 wires.
If your profile is up-to-date, you have a 1997 Sable which would potentially have the Mach system. Even if you don't have Mach, the radio/amp function is via the Rear Electronic Module in the trunk for the 1996-1999 and would need to be bypassed to use an aftermarket head unit. -Rod |
