Wont Start After Running
MY 1990 CHEVY SILVERADO 1/2 TON WITH A 350 WILL NOT START AFTER I DRIVE IT SOME WHERE AND SHUT IT OFF AND TRY TO RESTART IT. IT SMELLS LIKE RAW FUEL WHEN I GO TO START IT ALL IT DOES IS KEEP CRANKING NO FIRE. IF I LET IT COOL DOWN IT WILL START RIGHT UP. I JUST REPLACED THE PLUG AND WIRES CAP AND ROTOR. AFTER IT STARTS IT SMOKES BLUE SMOKE AND SMELLS LIKE IT IS RUNNING RICH. IT IS EFI ALSO.

Re: Wont Start After Running
Most likely the engine coolant temp sensor in the intake manifold near the tstat housing. The ECM uses this temp sensor to control the amount of fuel based on temp. This is similar to a choke on a carb vehicle.
If you have access to a scan tool, you can see if the reading from the sensor is correct or not. //2000CAYukon |

If you have an ohm meter, you can read the resistance of the sensor both cold and hot. Cold should should have a higher resistance than cold. //2000CAYukon |

it is possible that it is the ECT this could cause the injectors to be turned on too long on a warm start...I suspect a fuel leak down from the injector[s] into cylinder[s] causing this problem as well as a ruptured fuel regulator diaphram...see if after engine shut down fuel rail pressure remains high if it drops quickly this is the area to troubleshoot.... |
