WIP Hasegawa Ferrari 348 GTB

Hey all.

Started this way back when the 60th Anniversary group build was announced but never got round to documenting it.
As it is, I've recently come back from Hong Kong with a fresh batch of TS-08 and have been beavering away at the little details.

This started off as a GTS kit but the windscreen frame had snapped and it being a fragile and difficult to make strong part of the kit, I decided to simple cement the targa panel in place for an instant and quick fix.

First shot:
Cabin, Chassis+Engine, Intake+Plumbing


This is the first time I spent any extra time to detail the engine, mainly because this was the first time I made an effort to search for photos of details to reference. Without a lathe though, making parts out of styrene was the best I can do and as a result, some parts are not 100% and are perhaps a touch bigger than they should be.

not much added except some seatbelts, incorrectly laid out loosely but I like the look of them like this.


Bit of a dry fit seeing as the body is pretty much done; mainly so you can see the engine is relation to the bodywork.

gee, from the looks on that shine on the body, i thought you're using a hase TB kit!

really, i can't believe that it used to be a targa, no trace whatsoever!
love that shine, man!

Another quickie.

Another shot of the body seeing as I missed it yesterday.


Wired the engine plugs today.

Ends of wires have been fixed to a small block of styrene that will be fixed to the top part of the rear frame. The area here has been filled with perspex sheet and holes have already been drilled to receive the wire/styrene blocks.

You can just about see the missing cross members have been added as well as some miscelaneous wiring across this part as well as some addition tubing that runs inbetween the banks of the cylinders when in place.




Intakes have been detailed as much as I could.
A sort of throttle control (at least that's what I think it is) has been made from brass wire and styrene sheet. Additional tubes and bits have been added as well as the oil/fuel lines. Not everything's there but it's getting crowded already.

And yet another small update.

This is at that 99.8% complete stage with only a few decals to go.
Small problem has arisen in that the body doesn't sit properly onto the chassis and I can see what's causing the interference.

Anyway.
Just some shots of the completed engine and bay.







Next time, it'll be properly finished and polished and it will the first in a very long time.

Ah, this is a big problem with all the hasegawa 328 / 348 series...
i've encountered this in my 328GTS & 348TB builds years ago. seems the interior hub is slightly bigger than the body!

during those days, i just 'forced' the whole assembly fit & super glued it.
now that i'll be re-doing the whole hase series again, i'm listening to you to see just what's the problem here...

do post your findings ok?
