2001 back seat removal help NEEDED

Hey folks, I'm new here and I have a silver 2001 Cavalier. I bought it used and have been having major issues with it since but the newest issue is the mysterious appearance of a massive amount of water in my back seat. The water comes out of nowhere and soaks the seat, not the back part. I managed to pull up a section of the seat and found the underside completely soaked and slightly moldy.

I would like some advice on how to go about removing the seat part so we can find out where the water is coming from. Does anyone who how to remove the back seat?

any information would be wicked helpful because it's getting to the point where it's starting to smell of mold.

thanks so much!

Re: 2001 back seat removal help NEEDED

If it is like my 97 there are two metal clips on the floor just under each set twords the front about in the middle of each seat take a screw driver and push the clip you can not see with screw driver flat head and pull seat up . The back of my seat has no retaining part . The back rest is as follows lean set towards front of car about 45* angle and push seat to left while pulling right hand side out. And as Haynes manual says install is reversal of removale . Go to the zone or wherever and get a book they are worth every penny.GOOD luck with the leak.. hopefully someone else here has already had that prob. and can just tell you what to do .In any event post back and let us know maybe you could help someone else and so on.

Talking Re: 2001 back seat removal help NEEDED

Just some ideas...
1. Have you been losing water in your radiator ???? or have you checked
2. Did the kid leave the window down in a rain storm? or has it rained heavy where you live. Carwashes(high pressure) will cause door seals to leak.
3. Was the dog in the car ???
4. Anyone drinking beer in the back seat ?
5. Is it really water or antifreeze or ?

Going back to #1.... If you have...check the passenger side, under the front of the carpet area ..any water ??? If the heater core is leaking....water will be found there.

JzJzz and the Man from Down under.......
