aftermarket CD player

HI,
I am looking to install an aftermarket cd player so that it can handle mp3s files and such on my 2002 pontiac grand am. I don't have monsoon. i was looking at the players around $120-130 range at circuit city. when i finally decided on the one i like, they said, i need extra $2-300 for "other" parts or accessories!!! I just want to ask if they are trying to rip me off...

Thank you
Ernesto

Re: aftermarket CD player

Well maybe the 02's are diff from the 05's but all I had to do to put in my alpine was buy the adapter kit witch was like 50$ if I remember right. Most of those electronics placed tend to over charge you for stuff anyways.

Re: aftermarket CD player

the reason they are charging so much is cuz the harness which will keep your door chimes and light chimes and all that chiming nonsense costs a good 50-75 bux depends where you go, but i said who needs the stupid chiming so i skipped out on that part... but regardless if you get a radio for 150 with install no way your total will be around 300 more like 200-250ish with install and everything

Re: aftermarket CD player

IDK whats different on a 2002 from a 2000 but I bought nice Pioneer off ebay for $80(retails $150) and got a 6-8$ wiring harness at Wal-Mart and was done. Had less than $100 in my CD player in my 2000 GA.

Re: aftermarket CD player

i got a sony CDX GT 320 and got everything connected. but, when i attach the face plate, it won't even turn on. I can put a cd in and eject it but, it won't do anything else other than that. does any know why?

Re: aftermarket CD player

Well I would say either it is wired incorrectly or you could just have a defective unit.
