98 jimmy heater wont turn off

Hello I have a 98 jimmy and the heater wont turn off I live in a desert climate and rarely ever use it. It keeps clicking every few minutes even when heater and a/c turned off. I have the hoses clamped down so no hot air can come out the heater. A quick Initial diagnosis from a mechanic who was fixing my air condioner is that the doors are not being blocked and that he would need to take off the dash to see the problem. Is there any other options ?? The problem may have originated after I had my battery checked, the clerk had me turn on my a/c while checking my battery. The a/c was not working well at the time. The problem my also been casued by the vent being turned on. I dont know if these contributed to the problem or not because I usually have radio on and dont know the exact time table when it started. Thanks for all the suggestions.

another question is it alright to run my air conditioner with this problem???

Re: 98 jimmy heater wont turn off

Sounds like the motor on the blend air door stripped out on you.you can run the A/C all you want, won't cause any problems.I think that motor is on the top of the box close to the firewall. if I am right the dash needs to be moved back and then the airbox moved back to give clearance to the retaining screws for the motor.
