03 ford 6 disc player problem

I just bought an 03 ranger with a 6 disc cd player. When you turn the truck on it says Initializing and makes a funny sound. Then when you press load cd it says initializing again then cd error. If you press eject it says no cd. But all six slots are filled. Any suggestions?

Thanks Derek.

Re: 03 ford 6 disc player problem

I've got a 2004 GMC Yukon with the 6 disc cd changer and mine was doing the same thing. I took the stereo out which wasn't bad at all. The dash cover pops right out and the stereo only had three bolts. I then took the top of the CD player off. There's one small bolt at the back of the stereo and then you just pop the top off with a screw driver as there are prongs holding it on. Then I took wire cutters and cut the stuck CD's out. I only did this as a last resort before taking it to the dealership. I was a little suprised but that actually did the trick.
