Maxima is dying - good replacement?

Hello all. I'm new to the forums and have joined to look for advice in replacing my 1990 Maxima. I love my Maxima, but there are $2000+ worth repairs needed to keep it going and going (past the 195,000 miles it already has). I am a drummer and the '90 Maxima has had perfect space for my drums and a passenger as well. I think I might like a crossover like a Toyota Matrix, but want to know how it might compare to other wagons/crossovers?

My budget is about $10,000 and I want something newer than a 2000.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
David
