Re: head transplant

What you are thinking about doing in the Mopar circles is called creating a "16V Hybrid" Engine. How much time/money do you have and are you VERY mechanicly inclined?

Swapping a 16V DOHC head to the 2.2/2.5 engines can be done but takes special parts only available from few suppliers and of course will be priced accordingly. The head will bolt up to the block just fine, but modifications to the head and Engine Block are required for cooling and oiling requirements, as well as custom fabricating intake and exhaust manifolds as well as numerous other pieces. Plus the pains of getting engine management to like the changes.

But i'll tell you right now, plan on spending some big cash to get all the necessary parts and the required modifications done to make it work, and also plan on your ride being down for a very long time, this is NOT one of those "get it done in a weekend" type projects, this can take months.

Do a Google search on "Chrysler 2.2/2.5 16V DOHC head swaps" there is lots of info out there to read including a forum with a section devoted entirely to this type of swap. Best of luck to you should you decide to try it.

Re: head transplant

forget the DOHC and drop a small block in it, she'll really rip and be more cost effective...
