is there different 4l60e's
I went to get a trans from a guy today that said he had a 4l60e. It looked like the same trans as the one I have, it had the round plug for the wiring but it did not have the bolt holes for the trans module. What is the difference, can anyone tell me?

I have a 96 new body style Chevy light duty 3/4 ton van. I think that is where my problem is, I need to get a 97 or newer trans because my van was made right when they where changing from the old body style to the new.

yes there are many different ones, i found this out the hard way because when we went to find a good used 4L60E for a 97 extended cab all the yards said this was the only year and model for this 4L60E in particular so we had to have it rebuilt for 1100 bucks
