Replacement PCM questions

Hey all, got a quick question. The PCM in my truck is showing signs that it isn't much longer for this world, so I'm contemplating getting a remanufacturered replacement computer.

When I brought up the subject with my brother, he mentioned that the computer will need programming. I thought its odd, as the truck is fairly old, 1992, with the first-gen 360 gas engine in it (Non-magnum, TBI engine).

The service manual says nothing about needing to program the PCM after replacement, just unplug, unbolt and bolt in new unit. The units on the Schucks site say nothing about needing to be flashed, either, just a couple of them state that they're available thru direct send-in and remanufacturing only (Still need to get the part number off the PCM to match the replacement unit).

So, Would it need to be programmed, or should it already come programmed right out of the box? The bloody thing is an OBD I era computer, for goodness sakes....
