I posted this on another forum. At the back of the upper intake, there's a plate that is just hanging loose. It's being held by some (wires or hoses?). I'm in a wheelchair so my wife is doing the wrenching. She found this changing spark plugs. Can someone tell us what it is and does and where it fastens? Thanks in advance.

Re: 98 windstar 3.8l upper intake
On the upper intake ther are grooves that you can slide the metal bracket into and it should snap in place. There is one right above your belt, or IMRC control area holding wiring. You can get an idea of what it looks like ther.

Re: 98 windstar 3.8l upper intake
On the 98 model that plate fastens to the plastic plenum with a couple of small setscrews, one at either end. I've removed the plenum two times now on my 98 3.8 and it looks like yours has been off and someone didn't bothered attaching the plate during reassembly.
I'd try a couple of small standard bolts/screws (wrench size 8mm I think) until you find the right thread/size and buy some from the local parts store if you don't have any lying around - thread length about 3/4 - 19mm . |
