97 Wagon: 14". What other tires/rims fit please.
It has 185/65/14 now and I want to root around and find some other tires/rims plus some snow tires for next winter. 13" rims do not fit this car(large rotors..rotor clearance). Do any other males of rims fit? How tall/big a tire can I put on this? Thanks.

Should be a label inside the passenger door with sizes.

The problem with bigger tires is that the 185/65/14 only clears the McPherson strut by a 1/4 of an inch. Anything larger is going to rub on it.

A quarter inch is just about all my GTO has... if it's good enough for a GTO it must be good enough for a 'Scort!

Re: 97 Wagon: 14". What other tires/rims fit please.
Ya I know what is says inside the door. That isn't what I am looking for.
I was mainly interested in what other brands of rims fit. I dunno. I know for my 93 that there were LOTS! of other rims that I could use. As for tire sizes clearance is all I am really concerned about. I know from experience that if the mnfr does not reccommend a particular size..might be pretty hard to get someone to install or warranty them. I had 155/80's on VW rims with a different offset on my 93. THEN when the back struts got really weak I used the taller 165'/80's s on the rear to raise it and level it out HAHA. Thanks Dave..yes! that strut clearance is important! If you ever run low or overload..and the tire bulges out. Ouch. Thanks guys.. |
