95 intrepid cooling fan won't stop running
I have a 1995 Intrepid that the cooling fan won’t stop running. It has been this way for 5 years. Right from a cold start both of the fans kick in about 3-4 seconds after the engine is started and won’t stop running. I changed the coolant temperature sensor but it made no difference at all. The Air Conditioning has not worked in this car for a long time either. I am not worried about the AC though, just trying to get the fan to operate the way it should. Any Ideas?
Thanks for your time Regards Zeek |

Re: 95 intrepid cooling fan won't stop running
Are both fans running or just 1? If just 1 is running then pull the relays one at a time to see which one is on. This will narrow down what you need to do.

Re: 95 intrepid cooling fan won't stop running
Unfortunately, it is both fans that are running. I did swap both the high and low fan relays around and it made no difference. They still continue to run..
Any other possibilities? Regards Zeek |

Re: 95 intrepid cooling fan won't stop running
Have you check the computer for codes? Relay has 4 pins #30 has power all the time #86 is hot with the key on # 85 is grounde by the comp to energize the relays #87 is power out to the fans. Pin 31 at the pcm is for the high spd relay #32 is for the low spd relay. At this point from what you have told me either the pcm is turning on the fans; the wire between the pcm and the relays are shorted to ground.

Re: 95 intrepid cooling fan won't stop running
I have found the problem and solution on another forum. http://www.dodgeintrepid.net It was the A/C pressure transducer that was causing the issue. I unplugged it and all is fine now. The fans come on when they need to and shut off when the temp is brought down to the right level. Lots of searching involved sometimes but it pays off in the long run. Thank you to all of those that posted input and suggestions.
