Rear end off line with body
The rear end in my 86 iroc sits about 1/2 inch farther to the right (passanger side) then it should. I replaced the bottem bar that holds it. It had a severe bend and it fixed part of the problem. It was way off to the point that the driver tire was completly under the wheel well and the passenger tire had about 4 inches hanging out, Now theres about 2 inches on the driver side hanging out and about 2.5-2.75 haning out the passenger side. Was wondering what else could possibly be bent that would do this. Im looking and I cant figure it out, But then itd only have to be bent 1/4 of an inch to off set it by 1/2, Any suggestions as to what should be replace? My dad and I have been looking for ages, It doenst seem to cause the car do pull or drive at an angle or anything along them lines, It just needs to be slid over, Any suggestions would be appritiated, Thanks, Brian

Re: Rear end off line with body
Sounds like you need a double adjustable panhard bar to center that rear.

Re: Rear end off line with body
Its amazing what a log chain, a 10,000 lb winch and a jeep can fix.

Re: Rear end off line with body
We loosened the bolts on that bottem stabalizer bar or whatever its called, Then we chained the actual subframe onto a poll so the car wouldnt slide and hooked the winch onto the axle and winched it over, then put the bolts back in on that bottem bar, then where oblonged shaped, Was the only way we could move it over with all the other crap thats hooked onto it.

Re: Rear end off line with body
Well we had replaced everything that appeared damaged. So we didnt have much other choice, no one we talked to had any other ideas. Id still like to replace whatever was originally damaged so if you have any idea of what it might be, do tell.

Re: Rear end off line with body
I'd start checking the subframe for trueness to the body
was the car previously wrecked badly? |
