New fuel saving device.
Has anybody tried this I have strong doubts but would buy one if it worked.
Go to http://www.preignitioncc.com/pm/ I'm interested if anyone has one and how it works. I think it would sell like hot cakes if it works as specified. |

Re: New fuel saving devise.
I've never heard of it, but I'm gonna research it some more. My guess though is it's not all its cracked up to be.
"The PICC, Pre-Ignition Catalytic Converter is a breakthrough new technology that could get your car up to five times the gas mileage!" "The HAFC system will likely double your gas mileage! The kit is ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED to increase your gas mileage by at least 50% or the cost of the kit will be refunded to you. " "We have actually improved mileage by more than 300% in some instances." They jump around in their stats too much to sound truly convincing, and then the guy said that since you engine burns so clean because of it, you wont have to change your oil anymore... that to me just really doesnt make sense. Oil breaks down from engine heat more than it does from pollution. I dunno, Like I said... I'll look up some more about it.

If you couldn't tell, I'm highly suspicious. Keep your eyes on this one and see how long before there is a suit filed and the site disappears. Anyone remember that ProLong crap? TMT? Slick50? Wonder where they are now? Just check the federal register for claims, damages, and awards. Those names are all there instead of in the marketplace any more.

Re: New fuel saving device.
Just more snake oil. Those of us who understand physics, the physics involved in extracting kinetic energy from gasoline, know that gasoline has a certain BTU rating. To 'quintuple' your economy means that someone has found a miraculous way to increase the BTU of a gallon of gasoline by a factor of 5. There's no way around it, it is what it is - you can only get so much energy out of a gallon of gasoline and that puts a certain range of MPG for a given car/engine combo.
Ever watch Mythbusters? They had one episode where they tested myths to get your economy up, and they all failed - one 'economy booster' even going far enough to DECREASE economy - one of the devices was "Gasbusters - Sticking it to the Man". This was a device to extract hydrogen from water and while it did that - it wasn't on a scale large enough to run a fuel cell battery in a cell phone to say nothing of the 305 Chevy motor they tried it on. Nothing that advertises itself as an economy booster - short of a kit that contains spark plugs, wires, distributor components and a good, rebuilt carb (and only then if the engine is out of tune)- is going to have the effect you are looking for. Next time you go into (pick your favorite auto parts retailer) and see a device called a 'Tornado', laugh at it because the Tornado is a semi-successful method of impersonating a garbage can to throw your money into. None of these devices - magnets, vortex machines, etc. are worth the material they are made of. The 'Tornado' is especially troubling because it is $2 worth of aluminum that they sell for $70. Looks like something they picked up in the attic ventilation section of Home Depot.

Re: New fuel saving device.
Yeah, after rolling around in my head, the whole thing just sounds... well, pretty much impossible. At least, not in the method they're describing. As for those tornados, agreed, although I haven't tried one. I'd like to try one, but I can't justify $70.00+ for something I could easily make at home. Like Silicon said, it's $2.00 worth of metal (actually of you brought it to a scap yard, they'd give you probably no more than 3 cents for it.) being sold for over $70.00.
