Electrical problem on '99 Ram
I have a '99 Ram 1500, with the 5.9l. It's auto trans. I replaced the battery in November 07. I parked it for a week recently, went to start it and the battery was dead. No lights, horn, nothing. Charged it and got it to start and let it run for about 15 minutes. Gauge on dash showed good output. Tried to start the next day and the battery was dead just as before. Bad battery maybe?

Re: Electrical problem on '99 Ram
that's a good chance. you should charge it, let it run for about 15 minutes, shut if off, and check all electric parts... check the brake lights, the headlights, make sure nothing is staying turned on. do you have an aftermarket radio in it? and also, make sure that the terminals connected to the battery are clean...no acid, clean them with a copper wire brush, thoughorly, and make nice, new clean surface for contacts

Re: Electrical problem on '99 Ram
Thanks for the reply. I will do what you suggested. There's a good chance the glove box light may have drained it. It has been finicky of late (tough to get it to stay off.) I disconnected it, and will see what I get now.
Thanks again! |
