1992 Jetta 1.8 Not starting

Hi everyone...new here

I have a 92 Jetta with a 1.8L SOHC, AT, PS, and A/C, and 112,000 miles. I just got the car, and it needed an alternator belt, and CV axles. I replaced all that...then in my infinate wisdom...decided to look around and see what else needed to be done (STUPID ME).

It also looked like it could use a timing belt, a coolant flange, and a cam seal. So i replaced the cam seal, the timing belt, coolant flange, cap & rotor, and plugs. Now the car won't start!!!! I've been through the Haynes manual 50 times and had the timing belt on and off about 49 times (being sarcastic). I've lined up all the timing marks on both sides of the engine (fly wheel ring also), the intermediate shaft, and cam shaft...and all it does is turn over. I'm getting spark to ALL plugs (verified by timing light and actually pulling each one)...and I'm smelling gas on the plugs, and they're wet with fuel also.

I'm at wits end!!! The only thing left is to make sure it's getting enough voltage from the coil and enough fuel pressure...so I'm still gonna check that...but if ANYONE has any ideas...please send an email or post.

Believe it or not, I had the same problem, and believe it or not, I was told to change the coolant sensor on the gooseneck in front of the engine and trust me, it now starts first time and every time, I had a flooding problem and did all the tumeup stuff when it wouldn't start and bam, changed the coolant sersor and it started, seems odd, but what I was told is that when that goes bad, it tells the engine that it is 40 below 0 and wants more fuel and will flood it out right away, change it out, it's only about an $8 part and let me know, should be a sensor in front with a blue top to it, oh watch it if you do it hot, there will be a bit of coolant come out quickly, but not much loss, you do not have to drain the radiator.
