Will This Transmission Fit A 1995 Silverado?
1995 4.3L V6 engine full size extended cab 1/2 ton pickup. The transmission went out and I bought another transmission and had it put in. All it has now is low and reverse because of computer stuff was different. The original transmission is gone and I can't get any numbers from it. I ordered a Re-manufactured one from MI and begged the man to make sure it was out of a 95. He said it would be. Received it today and the code number is 4TAD202 J. That would make it a 1994, Model TA, Hydra-Matic 4L60E, built on the day shift. I'm not physically able to get under the truck and look around to see if all the plug ins for the computer are the same. And getting numbers from the one that is in there now won't do any good because it has to come out because it's wrong. I have been told just 95,96, and 97 were the same. I have also heard a 95-2003 woulf fit. I would like to know if it will fit before I let someone change it out and it be wrong also. Thanks in advance. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Will This Transmission Fit A 1995 Silverado?
I put a 1994 4.3L engine into a 1995 truck that had a 5.0L and the computers were different. I tried putting the 4.3L computer in place of the 5.0L one but the tranies were diiferent (went from a 5-Speed to a automatic) so it wouldnt shift properly. I just ordered a new computer chip for the '95 model with a 4.3L and auto tranny set up and it works fine. So maybe if you got a new chip with that tranny and engine setup the first tranny you tries would have probably worked. Lot cheaper than swaping trannies.
