Thumbs up South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

I was going to post this all in the South Meet thread, but this is also going to be my dyno/tuning thread and what's next to come, so it's linked.

I left Chicago for SC at around 11pm Thursday night and didn't arrive until 1:30pm on Friday. Total trip was around 800 miles, pretty much non-stop. Just stopped for gas and food, and that was all at once really.

When I got to Silvers, we headed to the dyno where the car was strapped on and ready to go. It was still burning hot from the long drive and took a long time to cool down.

Spooled MotorSports

My car strapped in on dyno cooling down.

In the meantime, one of the guys there has a sexy EVO. I forget how much he's putting down

4G powered... 4 guys!

When the car was ready, I did 4 runs and 3 tunings. All with proper cool-down time between runs. This shop knows what they're doing and are very good people to work with and I highly recommend. Prices are very good too.

95 Eagle Talon ESi FWD stock base HP to wheels is around 112-115. My first run...

I put down 136.9whp! Ya, not a lot compared to all the turbos, but a great improvement over stock. Check out the AFR... completely nasty across the board. Was running WAY too rich. Did 3 more runs to get the AFR flat and we sure did.

End result was 142.2whp! You can see the hp line isn't super smooth and there's some dips, probably where some timing is being pulled, but the AFR is almost straight across. On the DynoJet Dyno, I'd be hitting 160.2whp, but to me that doesn't count. I want 160whp on the regular dyno, and that's my goal for this year. The guys at the shop thinks it's very possible and I should be able to hit that. Just needs some tweaking and playing.

Here's the video from the first run
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=31406017

Silvers friend with a red GST went on next for just dyno.

He put somewhere in the 180s whp down with hard piping, BOV, and exhaust. With a boost controller, he should be able to hit a little higher easily.

Here's a video from his run
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=31406763

We had some change of plans while down there, but it all worked out for the best in the end. We had a great time and would love to do it again. Me and my buddy left Saturday night at around 6pm, and made it home around 5:45 (there's a time zone change in there somewhere). I drove over 600+ miles coming home continuously... I just didn't want to stop.

And now some random pics...

I love this pic. My desktop wallpaper at the moment.

What's next for me now? I'm order at WBO2 this week so I can do some more work on getting all the kinks worked out. By the North Meet, I want to be putting 160whp down, and I think it's possible. I just have to get my power-band a little more straightened out, and get her running top-notch, but I think it's possible.

So 144.3whp is my current hp.

Re: South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

You hit 144whp. As you started to lean the car out it started to get hot and loose some power.

The evo was putting down about 450whp on a 20g. It was a badass car.

That's right, I spaced. Still tired. Second pull I hit 144.3whp.

I was shooting a ball of lead. It went right through the window. This weekend was so much fun.

I watched the video of you playing the guitar Dave. That shit was tight.

It was a ton of fun. Well worth every mile to get there.

Thanks on the guitar. That was barely even trying too.

Damn, tight shit yo! Glad to see you fellers had a good time. Dave, isnt your head built? If so, why weren't you revving 'er out past 6k? Your power curve looks strong as hell, I didnt think it wanted to be done yet. You might want to get something that will allow you to control ignition too, I guess I dont know about NA cars, but I would imagine a little playing with that would help out. After that, I think its time for a wet kit.

Re: South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

Head is fully built. I didn't want to take her too high. I literally drove 800 miles and put her on the dyno. Only stop before that was at Jays for like 10 minutes. I didn't want to kill her. Pull 1 and 2 fell off pretty quick, but 3 and 4 could've still went higher looking at the sheets. Coulda probably spiked out a little higher. Again, was playing it safe. And again, she was hot.

Re: South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

That is a good call. It does look like it drops off quick, but that looks like you let off there. I'd keep tweaking 'er and shit, but you should try and get on a dyno again this summer and take it out to 7500 or whatever and see what you can really do.

LOL, I'll be out there this year Jay. Just had bad timing this this one around. Pretty impressive numbers dave, I take jay's eclipse wasn't set on the dyno because of his engine?

Re: South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

Yea mine didn't get to be put on the dyno. As you can see it was driven everywhere though. It smokes a lot but it still goes.

The 420a gets fuel cut around 7200 rpms, but Dave deffinately should take it up to around 7k next time he dynos. I see no reason why he shouldn't be able to hit 160whp.

Damn... Now I wish I could have gotten off work to go to the South meet... Oh well, I'll just have to make a special trip down there later on this summer or something when I have a 4 day weekend.

Re: South Meet Pics & david-b 420a dyno results

Ya his motor his gone. When we were driving and I was behind him, all it did was puff white/blue smoke the whole time. That's idle and cruising. It was kinda funny though. His car is very sweet though! Will be a beast later.

Thanks on the numbers. We should hit the dyno at the North meet. Like I said, I want to hit 160whp and I should be able to by then. Just have to tweak away. That's the next thing we have to work on though... the North Meet now.
