I would like to know if anyone can help me with information on getting the starter out of the engine compartment. And of course getting the new one in. I have the starter unbolted from the engine block, but cannot get it out. Do I need to remove the oil filter and get it out that way or is there an easier method that I have not seen yet? Thank you for any assistance.

Can anyone confirm that taking the starter out the front, over the axil, will work? I'm looking at it and there does not appear to be enough room. Also, do both mounting bolts go through the bell housing and thread into the starter? I've got a 91 4x4.
