flex plate

Is there a difference in flex plates from a 92 caravan 3.3 to a 98 caravan 3.3? I needed a torque converter for my 98 and I could only find a torque converter from a 92. Three of the holes line up just right and the fourth is just a hair off. It seems weird that they would change it by that little. Would it be ok to just drill out the fourth hole slightly to allow the bolt to go in?

Re: flex plate

Try loosening three bolts and see if you wiggle it a little it will go in. Count the teeth and measure the diameter.
I wouldn't drill it a little as it will change the balance cause vibration. Try changing position and see if they will fit.
Check with a company like transstar if you need a new one. Much cheaper than the dealer.

Re: flex plate

I tried that out already still wasn't able to get the fourth bolt in. I'm wondering if the flex plate warped slightly. I am replacing a transmission that locked up and put a nice hole in the case.

Re: flex plate

Call a couple of Dodge dealers and get the part number for each vehicle something is wrong or it should fit. Junk yards should have a cross reference manual. Explain your problem to them and see if they can swap it out for you the scrap yard. They usually will help you to keep the sale. Put a small straight edge on it to check if its bent.
