does anyone know any details in replacing manual steering to power
steering on a 1976 chevy vega? i have a '76 vega hatchback w/350 sbc v8 & auto trans. any info would be appriciated.thank you |

They actually did have a power steering setup for this car. I've had a pair of '75s with regular steering and a '74 with power steering and I will tell you there is not much difference. The manual steering on those is smooth. However, with the additional 150 pounds of the V8 engine, that might affect it somewhat.
You will have to locate a power steering gear for this car. The '76-'81 Monza had an option for V8 engines, the 262 or 305 depending on the year - you can use the power steering equipment from one of these as it bolts right in (the Monza was built on the Vega platform, the H body).
