1995 k1500 transmission swap

I've got a truck with a bad trans and was wondering if the trans would fit out of a 1998 1500. Also if there would be any problems making that swap.

Re: 1995 k1500 transmission swap

if the trucks have the same engine size the tranny's will swap out straight away. but if one is a six banger and one an eight. then, no. the six uses a 4l60E and the eight uses a 4l80E. toivo

Re: 1995 k1500 transmission swap

i have come across many v8s with the 4l60e mine including the only difference to my knowledge is a sprag or something inside the tranny if you take one from a v6 and put it in a v8 and hot rod it it will break if it is stock.....but if you drive normal it will be fine

Re: 1995 k1500 transmission swap

I know a 95 can only be replaced with a 95 because of changes that occured in 95 and in 96 to solenoids, I am not aware why the book would say a 97 couldn't be used in a 96 or a 98
