Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

This should represent an 04 US spec STi. Revell included some new parts that weren't in the diecast kit. There is a new STi, wing, scoop, front bumper, and stock rocker sills. Also, older style JDM STi wheel, found in the Tamiya kit. I guess there was some BBS licensing issue with the correct ones? Too bad they're still huge. Compared to the diecast, all of the parts are separate now, and not glued, heat bonded, into the body. All parts are still molded in their silver, black, and clear parts as was the diecast. The body and body parts are all molded in white. There are thin chrome "STi" emblems revell wants you to glue onto the body and grille. There are decals to cover those, or to use instead. Oddly, inaccurately, revell included a Subaru oval emblem for the trunk that should be for 06-07 models. But thanks. The fujimi STi can benefit from that one. There is an optional ricer wing, and some kinda carbon decals for optional parts. The STi scoop and wing look a whole lot better than fujimi's older STi.

Here is Jay's thread on the diecast release for more pics.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

Thanks for pics. Odd kit...wrong wheels, the correct US STi wheels look good, and Fujimi's were too small. Surprised at the lack of a second set of wheels.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

I'm sorry Bob. All of the other parts from the diecast are included in this kit. The legacy looking ones and bbs mesh style.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

Okay, those BBS are nice. If they have the snowflake BBS wheels in the kit, I can't understand why they tooled the JDM wheels instead of the spoked style.

Is the STI scoop bigger than the WRX? Hard to tell. Weird how Revell molded the side glass and window trim, looks kind of odd on the white plastic body, but all painted black on the finished model you don't notice it. Guess they paid attention to what the front window opening looks like w/the window down, w/the Scooby frameless glass.

I have some interesting plans for this kit when I get it

Won't be nearly as interesting as the BRAT STi though.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

Yea. STi scoop looks good. Proper size, and shape, unlike the mailbox fujimi made up. Bob, the Hotworks diecast STi has perfect BBS wheels. Someone should cast them up tho. Interesting? Hmm....can't wait man!

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

I've been waiting for this one, hoped to get to the Hobby SHop today but just didn't get a chance. I have plans for two of these. a "tuner" style plain WRX, and a base non-turbo Impreza.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

It's all the same as the diecast WRX kit. Here is Jay's link with more of the parts pics. They are the same. Same engine.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

So how is the engine detail? Is it worth getting just for the engine?

Engine detail is nice. It's well worth getting for the engine. Did you ever see my BRAT STI? It used this engine. It's a late-model Revell tuner kit, it's detailed out like any of their other tuners.

Re: Revell STi in PLASTIC....new

Oooooh YE-EAHHH !!!!!!

This is the best news I've heard or seen in a long while.....
When I first heard the "rumour" that this kit was coming, and it was based on the already released diecast, I was scepticle, to say the least....
Not bagging diecast, I just don't like'em.....my opinion, no one elses.....

Seeing these pics gives me renewed hope...it also puts a stop to this.....

I'd started my own motor some time back, luckily it never got finished...hahaha

Are the body/chassis proportions realatively close to other brands..?
Does anyone think the chassis will be a good doner for lots of others.....??

I know I do.....can't wait..
Thanks for the heads up man.

cheers
