transmission troubles

I have a 3.1 lumina that went in the ditch. It was driven for a short while after and the transmission quit working. Looking underneath we found that a transmission cooler line had pinched off. Could it be possible that replacing the line will fix it? Looked at the fluid and it is still bright red and doesn't have a burnt smell to it or anything. I know I can just try it and see what happens but it's buried in a snowbank right now. Just trying to get some ideas as the snow is melting now and I will soon be able to get at it to work on it again.

Re: transmission troubles

hard to say what's up without dropping the transmission pan. the cooler line may have cracked at the bend which also might be a system blockage as well, giving you a leak, but no entrance to the tranny itself for cooling.

i'd get the car home, drop the pan and have a look. if everything smells/looks good, replace the bent line and hope for the best. good luck!
