Good/bad years Caravans (trans issues)
Time to get a van..... We had a '86 way back when and am looking to get a newer one. I keep hearing about transmissioin problems though. Are some years better/more reliable than others? Any help would be greatly apppreciated!

Re: Good/bad years Caravans (trans issues)
Yes, the transmissions on the Voyagers are notoriously bad. I own a 1993 Grand Voyager AWD - great vehicle except for the transmission. It has now gone out on me twice. 2 grand a pop to replace. Not fun. I think they did get better in the newer ones. And I am not sure about the ones that are not AWD. I would search some of the older posts on here - I know it has been brought up here before - that may help

Re: Good/bad years Caravans (trans issues)
2002 up should be much better. They have a factory installed tranny cooler which helps a lot. Just make sure to properly maintain the tranny with fluid/filter changes and use ONLY ATF+4 FLUID, which is a synthetic, and able to handle the temps better.
