Jerky transmission - 2003

My 2003 Altima jerks roughly from first to second gear (automatic transmission). The problem started last summer and seemingly stopped during the cold winter months. Now that it's starting to warm up again, the problem has started once again. It seems to be related to the temperature, both outside and of the car. I'm afraid to take it to a shop for obvious reasons and am hoping someone has a possible solution I can try before I finally take it to a mechanic. Thanks!

Re: Jerky transmission - 2003

there is a wire that breaks on the trans solenoids inside the trans. trans pan has to be dropped and valve body has to be removed, then solenoids are replaced. the parts cost isn't to bad if i remember right, Its mostly labor. There is a bulletin for that condition, i have done a few of them. Gl. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, i can give you part #'s and so on if you like.

Thanks for the response. I do understand what you said but do not understand if a wire was broken or starting to come apart, why I had no symptoms all winter long (6 months and 12,000 miles) and as soon as the weather warmed up it started again. Also it seems to act up more after you have driven it and then shut down for a short period of time and then driven again. After that, when the car runs for about 15 minutes and warms up again, it stops. Seems like it will not act up unless temp is above 40 degrees. Any thoughts? THANKS for your time!
