Legacy 95 Code P0420

I had a friend scan my car and the P0420 "Insufficient Catalys" was the erorr code that it showed (my check engine light was "ON"). Can anyone give advise as to what this P0420 means and any ideas on how to resove this problem would be gratly appreciated.

I just had the same code on my 98 Pontiac MV and after checking everything I could think of it was the catalytic converter that was bad. After market direct swap $180.

For now a friend cleard the error code and its been good for 1 week. Still not shure what to make of this, but I will keep posting.

Mine would come back after a few days depending on the mileage I put on it. Hopefully yours will stay off.
