It sound like your distributer is off. When you removed your distributer, did you mark it and replaced it in the same position when reinstalling? let us know.

read this:

hmm interesting, but you have to remove the distrib to remove the intake to remove cylinder heads in order to replace the head gaskets

make sure all sensors are plugged in
make sure all ground wires are connected and tight on the block and such

set engine to TDC of compression stroke in number one cylinder

see that the distrib rotor is pointing at your number one wire
the intake has a large cast raised number on each intake runner by the valve covers make sure that the wires to each of these cylinder numbers is going to the right distrib cap tower(in the same order as the firing order of the engine)

make sure timing is set at least close enough to run

it may just need turned a bit is all

it is probably off just more than enough to make it not be able to run

the rotor needs to be at the number one tower on TDC #1 of compression stroke and actualyl a hair past it(advanced a little bit)

counter clockwise with the cap will advance the initial timing

clockwise will retard it

since the rotor turn clockwise in gm engines

but anywhere close to it should allow it to run

110 to 120 isnt all that great but its ok for a real high mileage engine i suppose

150 would be more closer to normal though

good luck

I agree with Randy78, Recheck your timing marks. Check your presets making sure that you are TDC on cylinder #1. Then place your distributor so that your rotor is on or near #1 firing on the cap. Make minor adjustment as need in trying to start your motor. Let us know how your doing.
