Some pics, image intensive!

A bunch of pics from a local car show. There were 3 DeLoreans there. One was auctioned off for 45 grand CDN i believe. Wish I was the lucky one
Sorry about the crappy angles and shitty quality. The show was packed and white trash and thier mullet infested kids kept walking in front of me.

Looks like it was a good show! Sorry I missed it

I like the flux capacitor & time circuits that one guy has... talk about authentic!!!

Oh, and I like the Road & Track 0-60 stats 10 seconds Just goes to show you that "magazine racing" is way off! If my 0-60 was 10, then the driver of that S2000 must have missed 2nd, 3rd, and fourth gears:silly2:

Hmmm....
130 hp x 3,100 pounds = slow
Are you sure he was actually racing you?

The base curb weight of a DeLorean is 2750 lbs, the S2K is 2775 lbs.

Advantages DeLorean:
Rear engined layout means less driveline loss
Dead even in tq with S2K @153 lb.ft, however, the DeLorean gets this peak torque almost 5000 rpm lower in the powerband! I think it should be quite a flat curve as well, as its a volvo engine.

Advantages S2K
6 speed close ratio
105 Hp OVER the DeLorean

Now the S2K is tested at a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds. And while I do believe the DeLorean's time is certainly better than 10.5 sec (I would think it would be in the mid 8s) there is simply no way it can match the advantages of the S2K. HOWEVER! Driving an S2K takes a lot of getting used to. In order to hit peak horsepower, one must bring the revs up to 8300 RPM!! At this engine speed, it feels like the engine is going to fly apart (though it can tolerate the revs very reliably), and if braking the car in, you should definitly not be hitting those revs. Lower, say shifting around 5-6K RPM, the S2K is damn slow. It is entirly likely that the S2K he was racing was not being driven to its limit.

People, as with any forum on the Web: PLEASE DO A SEARCH BEFORE POSTING. We've discussed the weight issue many times.

As for the S2000 advantage, yes it takes great skill to get the max performance out of one. Is that my problem? No... that is the great thing about street racing

I'm just reading the "test weight" in the article, 3155 pounds. Do they not actually put them on scales?
I'm not flaming, but these cars never were called quick...

I think that in the case of the DeLorean, Road & Track wanted the car to flop... so they fudged the #s. I say this because if you make your own decisions about which cars you like & perform the best THEN read Road & Track, you'll find that they're way off most of the time. It is like they get bribed to hype up some makes while putting others down.

I'm actually starting to like the incorrect info! It makes everyone want to race me, then wonder why they lost

Agreed... My rude awakening to automotive journalism was when I was selling cars. I was selling a terrific new model in 1990 and it was completely ignored for "Car of the Year" because it had no advertising history with the mag. It should be called "advertiser of the year" . That explains the Renault Fuego and other turds that have been bestowed with this honor!! R&T just did a road test of the GLI I own and came up about .5 short in the 1/4 mile compared with my times at Bradenton Motorsports Park...

I just like to rev the engine at a light these days, maybe chirp the tires a little when the green goes and let them roar-off from the light like an idiot while I putt on down the road. Far to many dumb-asses on the road today to street race...

The pics I can see are nice!

As far as magazine "testing," they almost always are very biased against any car they don't like, or are paid not to like (or are not paid to like). I've seen horribly, horribly wrong stats on cars, even some 0-60 times as far off as 2 seconds! You just have to take everything you read with a grain of salt, so to speak.

It's also a matter of gearing anything toward the masses, and not the niche markets. That's why we have shows like "My Classic Car," showcasing with a bunch of old cars, and no "My 80's Car," with cars like Fieros, Firebirds, Countaches, Esprits, and of course Deloreans, to name a few, which are all ignored by about every automotive show and magazine today. It doesn't justify lying, but they still do it.

I hear you loud & clear! I've seen so many cherry 70's Chargers that now I yawn:o and walk right past them at car shows. Don't get me wrong, I like them... but its like hearing your favorite song on the radio too many times - gets old

I'd love to see a TV show or car meet that was "80's ONLY":smoka: Merkurs, Starions, Fieros, DMCs... some cool sheitz came outa that decade:bandit:
