Which oil sender for 01 LeSabre w/ Computer

My wife's '01 LeSabre Custom has the Driver's Information Center computer display for fuel, guages, etc. The oil pressure shows "Normal" at 129 psi at all rpms and temps, unless the engine is off - then it shows 0 psi.

Calling around town for a replacement sending unit, and everybody wants to know if the car has a light ($9) or a gauge ($50). When I tell them it's got a dash light and a computer readout, I get the phone version of this guy:

So....which sending unit do I need? I'm betting it's the $50 gauge-type one that nobody has on their shelf instead of the $9 that they all have 10 of...

The correct oil pressure sensor for either the gage, or digital readout should have three wires; ground, reference voltage & variable voltage feed to the PCM based on pressure. Yours works the same way as a gage, it varies voltage to the PCM. You can ask for ACDELCO Part # 2131650 (#12584940), Standard Motor Products Part # PS401, or Duralast PS421, all for the 2001 LeSabre VIN (K). It should look like the pic below: BTW, you are right the more expensive one is for the gage/digital readout.

Thanks for the info. At least Autozone has it in stock for "only" $37.99.

Wouldn't the oil pressure normally be 0 psi when the engine is off?

Sure. But 129psi isn't normal, especially 0 variance cold/hot/rpm. I've got the new sender in hand, will install it this weekend. My money is on the old one failing into min/max mode, with no in-between.

Of course you are right. I read your post, but only saw the 0 psi when the engine was off part. Sorry, wasn't trying to be a smart a$$. Hope all goes well with the installation.

No worries, I didn't think you were.

Believe me, when I saw it go from 0psi to 129psi when I started it I did one of these:
