Trac Light problem/ RPM gauge problem
While driving at highway speeds(50-65mph), a brief "clunk" then the rpm guage will drop to "0" and the Trac Light will come on and stay on. No other problems driving. Will usually stay this way until car is turned off and re-started. Any ideas what is causing this?

Re: Trac Light problem/ RPM guage problem
If there is no SES/CEL light probably not. CKPS problems don't necessarily trigger the SES/CEL light or store a DTC. Here is a DIY procedure at link below to give you an idea of the work involved. Part should run no more than $50 and around 1.5 hours total labor based on their hourly rate. Best to get some quotes from different shops.

Re: Trac Light problem/ RPM gauge problem
I've been having the same problem with my 98 GTP and since I was still able to drive it I and had no other problems I never got it fixed. But the other day I drove it and when I got out of the Doc's office the car would start and about 20 secs later it would shut off. I had it towed to my mechanic and he hooked it up to his machine that checks the sensors ( I don't know the name of the machine ) and he said it was telling him there was no problem with the sensor.
BNaylor, I don't know what SES/CEL is, but would he get a reading that it's working but still be the problem? Thanks Micro |

However, in your case have you tried the fuel pump resistor bypass since it is cutting off at around 20 seconds.
