Auto or std?
2 or 4W drive?
What is bad on yours?
This link may help.

But I think it is more on a 4W auto transmission.
If you are going used the bone yard should have a interchange book.
Some not many years will interchange.
Always check a good interchange book.

i dont think that the tranny has completely went bad cuz it gave no warning signs. no slipping or anything like that was driving just fine one minute then it was just like i somebody put it in nuetral. however im no car expert and i know even less about transmissions so if anyone can tell me what if anything else it might be i would greatly appreciate it thank you

Re: 96 v-6 s-10 ss tranny help

It could be any number of things, from a blown fuse to a failed pump. I had one "rebuild" which consisted of installing the pressure relief valve back into the pump (through the pan) and installing a new snap ring.

In short, more information and a little diagnosis is necessary. You can connect a pressure gauge to the test port on the left (driver) side of the transmission and read pressures in the various ranges. The gauge should be able to withstand 250 PSI or higher.
