97 Grand AM GT(4 door) strut/rear rattle

I've read some old threads here and see that many people who have had strut issues say the car bounces around quite a bit but mine doesnt really bounce (I dont believe) around so maybe its not a strut problem. I have had a very loud rattle in my passenger rear suspension. Im gathering it is the strut but not completely sure. Basically its a very loud rattle that occures over any bump/or bumps, but has gotten worse so even smaller bumps will make it rattle now. I have around 113 thousand miles on it, and probably have never had these replaced for all i know (bought the car with 40 thousand mile and now has a new engine in it).
So would this be the issue or what other possiblities could it be? I heard the price can be quite high in getting them replaced so Ill probably do them myself, with help.
Thanks for the help!

Re: 97 Grand AM GT(4 door) strut/rear rattle

I'd jack up the car and support it on jack stands and feel around back there.
The strut could be the problem, the top outside jacket sometimes breaks loose and rattles.
Thier's also an issue with these coil springs breaking at the ends, then the chunk can fall below and rattle.
