New Cadillac owner, few problems

Hi this is my first post on here. Have a number of problems some important, some not so important. first off the important ones: brake pedal feels soft and almost squishy-like, no warning lights, and MC is full. My clock stays light after I shut off car and take the key out, it dims, but it's still on. And yes this is even after I open a door. I hear a whine coming from the driver's side of the engine compartment, it changes pitch with rpm's. Now the less important ones: Illuminated entry doesn't work, but outside locks do light up, factory alarm doesn't seem to work, even thought "Security" light does come on at startup. And parking brake works (much to my shock), but it doesn't release when put into gear.

Looks like you have a fixer-upper on your hands.. DeVille's are nice cars - so depending on how much you spent, figure out whether or not it's worth fixing. The issues don't sound ALL that expensive to repair...

Re: New Cadillac owner, few problems

They were asking $1,400 but I talked them down to $1,250.

If it's not a daily driver, I'd keep it and fix it up over time. You got a pretty good deal. Wait. How did I know it was a DeVille?

Yes, this is my DD, however, I've managed to figure out all of the problems except for the alarm not working. The soft pedal is air in the system, it firms up if I press a 2nd or 3rd time. I don't hear the whine when I put it in gear if i'm not moving, so I think it's trans. related.

Edit: Sorry that I forgot to mention, but it's a 1993 Sedan w/ 184K mi., A lot, yes, but it runs awesome.

That's okay. 1993 Sedan DeVille.. Is it the 4.9 or Northstar? Either way you can easily get over 200k miles..
