Welcome...

That color you see is called "Reflux Purple" and is most commonly seen on TVR Tuscan Speed cars. You can do this by going to the cosmetic section at your local Wal-Mart and find the best match. If you want a VERY good finish, try the real thing but beware, it isnt cheep.

I beleive he used the Dupli color 3 part process. its a package you can get for around $20 US and it comes with 3 spray cans, a primer, the color, and a clear coat. the color changes depending on light.

The maker of that paint is Called Dupli Color, its like 18 dollars for 3 can, for different colors. It comes with 2 different color changes and clear coat, they have that at Wal-Mart. Tell me if this helps.

You could also do a cheaper version of this by using Tamiya's purple, red, chrome, and green.

First what I would do is mix the purple and red to obtain the color you wanted and add the chrome to give it the metallic reflective coat. Spray that starting at the front; heavy front super light end. Then mix another batch but add a few dropplets of the green and start from the end of the car with a heavy coat and lighten it up while you get to the center.

That would only give you the color change appearance in 1(2) directions but it'll still look sweet.

Just my 2 cents

You could also try Alclad's new range of pearl colors that would give a similar effect.

I'd disagree to be honest, the metalic flakes in that range of paints are too big and just don't look right on a 1/24 model.

Hi,

GSI Creos (formerly known as Gunze Sangyo) does a series of Maziora prismatic (flip-flop) colors.
You can find them at Rainbow 10

Here's the list (18ml bottles only), I have to dig up what code is for which color.

0051910051728,GSI Creos,2000,Mr.COLOR MAZIORA 01 COSMO-COLLECTION,
0051910051729,GSI Creos,2000,Mr.COLOR MAZIORA 02 COSMO-COLLECTION,
0051910051730,GSI Creos,2000,Mr.COLOR MAZIORA 03 COSMO-COLLECTION,
0051910051732,GSI Creos,1000,Mr.COLOR MAZIORA 11 ALPS-COLLECTION,
0051910051733,GSI Creos,1000,Mr.COLOR MAZIORA 12 ALPS-COLLECTION,

The Alps series are white-ish colors, one shifting from pale red to pale green the other from pale gold to pale blue.
The Cosmo collection are magenta to green, gold to magenta and uhm 'have to check back home...

I'm very much inclined to agree with Chris! I've used Alclad Prismatics before and their metallic particles are out of scale as seen on my Celsior below...

An alternative is to try Sally Hansen Nail Prisms fingernail polish, it is basically color-changing fingernail polish that can be thinned with automotive lacquer thinner and used through an airbrush...here's a pic of the bottle...
Oh, welcome to AF!

Hi

K dog is correct - this is a TVR Paint
it is automotive paint not from a can as some have suggested. The Duplicolor cans work well however but IMO they are not that good for the reasons suggested.
But i like to use a spray gun not cans for finishing.

bensonyuen PM me if you want some of this paint - I recently sold my last lot but have now got a small new batch. I also have several other colours if interested. My online model finishing supply site will be online soon and will show all the colours i have

Cheers

JIM

I bought the dupli-color system, and it works really good. The metal flake is pretty close to scale, and looks cool. Also alot cheaper than the real thing from dupont, or ppg.
