2005 malibu battery issue?

sometimes when starting the starter makes a strange sound and completely
drains the battery. any ideas .please help

I think the problem is your battery and not your starter motor. The battery might be getting too weak to allow enough cranking amps for the starter motor to turn the engine over.
Take your car to any AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts and they'll load test you battery for free, then you can rule the battery out. Hope that helps!
