A few more kills and a close death

So, for those of you that are aware, Hooters is holding some sort of contest/promotion type thing that, if you visit 25 Hooters for the 25th Anniversary, you get a free wing party, and entered to win $25k. Me and some of the local Mazda guys decided to hit up all 14 in the DFW area in one day on Saturday. 215 miles, took us around 6 hours, real fun.

Anyways, as to be expected when there is much Cannonballing to be had, there were, of course, a few races. Mods are intake, catback, upgraded fuel pump, running 15 pounds (stock) boost, because I fixed my leak.

First race was against another MS3, intake only. I had been following him, and he took a wrong turn, so we were already moving pretty quick trying to catch up to the rest of the group. Ended up at a light in front of everyone else, so we figured out that we were going the right way, and where the next Hooters was so we could just meet them there. After our quick conversation, he revved, so I obliged, and revved back. Light goes green, and I let him get off the line faster because I still had my traction control on. Rolled into it in second gear, still spun and bogged out with the TC, short shifted into third with him about a car up. Went wide open through third and closed the car length fast. Flat shift into fourth at 60 (third'll take me to 75, but fourth is our power gear), and let it run all the way out to 6k rpm and shift around 95-100. Its so nice to have this new fuel pump and not die at 5200rpm now. Shut down at around 110 in fifth, with the other MS3 about two lengths or so back, not really pulling any more. He dropped in behind me, and more cannonballing followed as we caught up to the rest of the group. We actually managed to get to the Hooters before them, lol.

Next run was against a Chrysler Crossfire that decided he and the guy riding shot gun didn't like all these Mazdas passing him or something. He came flying up to us after we all passed him getting on the highway, and I was leading the pack at the time, so he started pacing me. I was sitting at 60, I dropped down to fourth, and he took off first. He was about a nose up when I hit it, stopped his pull and started pulling him. We were running doors when I had to shut down because shit started falling off this truck in front of me. I dropped in behind him, he got back on it, but he wasn't going anywhere. We finally got to line up again, and I honked us down from 60. I punch it on the third honk and I could hear him do the same. Around 80 I started pulling on him, at 100 I shifted to fifth and had a nice backfire that, according to one of the other guys resulted in a nice pop of flame (hooray for AFRs in the low fucking 9s) and started pulling on him hard. I shut down around 125 with him a good three or four lengths back and falling. Crossfire flies by, driver looks all pissed off, but the guy in the passenger seat gave it a thumbs up.

There was one part where some guy in a V6 'Stang with his girl tried to pick a race with all of us, but we all just took off and he couldn't catch up worth a shit, so I'm not gonna waste time with that.

Last race was against an FD, turbo back+intake, but it was an auto. Still looked pretty sick, and sounded nice. He and I had been playing back and forth for most of the day, and at one point, we ran from 80 and I put about a length on him, most because his car wouldn't down shift. We decided to line up again from 60, and see what we could do this time. I honked us down, and I put a quick half car length on him. I was pulling slowly till around 80 when he came into boost or his transmission decided to work or something, but he quickly caught up and put my nose at his door. He let off with my nose at his rear wheel and I was around 110. Thumbs up all around.

All in all, a good day and excellent test for a fuel pump I installed the night before. I'm still letting Sophia have the day off, get all cooled down and ready for next weekend, lol.

Nice races man...i would love to run an FD but there are only a few around here, and they are all owned by old guys. It is pretty cool to compare your mods to an almost stock MS3 though. My friend is planning on getting one this summer so i always read your posts and tell him about them.

Tell him to hurry up and get one, lol. The first thing he's going to want to do is pick up a CDFP, it is by far the best thing for this car, hands down.

Cam Driven Fuel Pump...I'm not 100% on the workings of it, but I have tons of information, and one on my car right now. It is totally worth the money for one.

Re: A few more kills and a close death

so it compensates fuel pressure based on the rotation of the cam? what do you hack into the cam signal or something???

weak cassies, just weak. I expected more than a close death out of the little hatch.

Oh allright...I have never heard of a cam driven pump. I will have to let him know so he knows what mods to get when he gets one. Thanks man, and once again nice kill and death

I think I did pretty good considering stock for stock it would be a hella close race, lol. Another one of the Speed3s with us that had a turboback and intake on a leaky BPV ran him and pulled on him. I just need to get the rest of my turboback in.

True, but our in tank pumps are no where near max flow with anything on the market yet. Even guys running the GT3071 and 3076 are fine with the stock intanks.

Re: A few more kills and a close death

Nice kills. I highly doubt this, but i figured i might as well check. Was the Crossfire an SRT-6? If it was i think he would have pounded you a new asshole, so i didnt think it would be... then again you is modded. Never seen an SRT-6, so figured i would ask.

Nothing wrong with losing to an RX-7, auto or not. turboback would make it pretty much a driver's race, if it wasnt already.

Keep killing V6 mustang drivers who think they drive GT-500s, too. They need to be erradicated from the face of God's green earth.

That was NOT a bash to Mustangs. Most of the drivers around here have V6s and think they are hot shit. I love me the Cobras and GT Five Hundos.

Back to you, CassiesMan. Keep up the kills, and the hooter-hopping.

Nope, not a sarty. And I talked to the owner of the FD more indepth last night. He said he has a mild base tune, running the turbos in twin not sequential spool, and just replaced the tranny.

And to CassiesMan, What kind of world do we live in when you can hit up 14 hooters in 6 hours?
