starter solenoid wiring

this should be really simple, i just installed a new system to run a extra battery for lights in my ford e350 1990. installed new batterym aux battery engine started right up, i noticed some one has been messing with wires goin fg all different directions, so i had to clean it up, i took wires off starter solenoid and was sure i would remember where they went, no car only makes a clunk noise like starter trying to engage. did i get wires on wrong terminal? wire from battery, had 2 wires behind it, black wire down to starter? caint seem to find a wire harness diagram...where the hell do the wires go before i short out sumpting, thanks patrick
