Spring Frustration

I am trying to get my 95 civic EX coupe ready for the spring but I am have trouble getting it to start after the cold winter. I just put in a Optima Red Top and still having problems.

Turn the key and the starter clicks, the fuel pump runs and everything else seems to work but for some reason it does not even try to turn over. Then after a few trys it will start and run fine. Then turn off the car and when I try to start again it just wont turn over, it wont even try.

I thought maybe I was having a problem with the ignation switch or the clutch switch but when I push the clutch and turn the key I can hear the fuel pump run and the starter click, they seem to be getting a good conection and power.

Now I am a loss for ideas. Please help.

Re: Spring Frustration

starter?
Maybe it's a loose connection or possibly a bad starter.
Tap on it with a hammer or something and see if that has an effect.
If you can get it out, they are easy to test.

Re: Spring Frustration

Thanks for the tip and you were write. Yesturday I got the thought in my head to ceck the connections and one was badly coroted. Cleaned it up and it started like a champ.

Now begins the task of moving the Red Top into the trunk!

Do you think I should just ground the battery or run a wire up to the engine bay? 2G or 4G wire I just cant decide. What do you think?

Re: Spring Frustration

Just ground it in the trunk. As long as the engine is grounded to the chassis, it's all part of the same ground. Look at BMW M3's. They have their batteries in the trunk and they are grounded back there. 4 gauge is plenty. It's way thicker than the connection point of the metal you'll be grounding it to, so it's really thick enough. 2G would be way overkill.
I'm happy I could help.
