Totally messed up firing the order

Hi,

1. I really messed up the firing order (wrong wires to wrong cylinders) and the engine sounds horrible, even as I attempted to reset the wires in order. Did I do some huge damage?

2. can someone please give me a diagram of which wire goes from the coil pack to which cylinder. (1995 Trooper 3.2L). New coil packs do not have numbers on them. If you are standing in front of the coil pack does it go 3-6-?-?-4-1 from left to right?

1. Doubt that you have done any harm - probably had it firing on some cylinders only.

2. Assuming that you have the 6VD1 SOHC V6:

DIS (Direct Ignition System) Modules (coils) sitting on the top front of the engine:

NOTE:
The above DIS layout is from the Isuzu 1992~ manual, but on my 1997 engine the modules are arranged like this:

(5 2)(3 6)(4 1)
fan

Either way, the original DIS modules had their respective cylinder number printed on them.

The DIS uses a 'wasted' spark method. Both plugs on the same module fire at the same time - one to ignite a compressed fuel/air mix, the other is 'wasted' into exhaust gases.

Boritz thank you. As you can see the repair manual had the wrong cylinder firing sequence and to boot, some jack ass had placed the (3 6) coil in place of the (5 2) coil- see picture. This confused me to no end. As a last ditch effort I used your info, even though the coil sequence did not match the the numbers on my coil. And voila it worked. Regards.

Don't confuse the cylinder map with firing order. The correct cylinder number map for the 3.2V6 is:

firewall
5 6
3 4
1 2
fan

Each numbered cylinder spark plug is connected to it's corresponding DIS module number.

The DIS modules fire the plugs in pairs 1 & 4, 2 & 5, 3 & 6.

Using your first photo as a reference, the DIS should be numbered (looking at the photo) left-to-right:

(5 2)(3 6)(4 1).

Your second photo looks like the modules have been re-arranged.

I went through this madness with my 1995 SOHC Trooper. My diagram was opposite as it is supposed to be, supposedly. Haven't gotten back to it yet. Plus I fried my starter while I was trying to geterdun. Thank god for lifetime warranties.
