Leaking Axle Shaft

How much would it cost to have a new transmission axle shaft seal put in a 2000 grand am with the automatic transmission?? Could I do it myself?

Re: Leaking Axle Shaft

You can DIY it, you'll need to pull the hub/bearing assembly off to pull out the axle shaft, then you can change the seal.

Seal is about $20-25, labor 1.5-2 hrs, most labor is $60 hr+.
